SHAKALAND, KwaZulu Natal

Sawubona!

Shakaland offers a Zulu immersion filled with tribal culture and dancing. Yes, Joan and I joined in but hopefully there are no pictures to prove it. (Our Zulu leg kicks are not what they used to be!)

The silence surrounding our Zulu hut is erratically pierced by the screech of prowling cats. It's a bit like camping, though we have a red concrete floor and a thatched beehive roof. So, no, it isn't really like camping but there's a tangible feel of the starry night sky breathing through the stillness and folding over us as we settle in to sleep. It's winter in Zululand so I'm curled up under my down comforter awaiting the minstrel who is scheduled to waken us.

Sala Kahle!

Shakaland is beautifully situated in the Entembeni hills.I like their tribes dancing and their unity. The atmosphere in the night is so beautiful. The way of building their houses with the red concrete is amazing.U amd john where enjoyed very much but unfortunately there are no photos when you joined with them to dance.Better try next time.

Yes, I want to see the dancing as well! I don't believe I have ever seen you do any sort of rhythmic movement.
